Central – Simplifying AML compliance

Central is the first autonomous back‑office platform built for startups: payroll, benefits, state registrations, HR, accounting, and taxes are all run by AI agents inside Slack.

Instead of forcing founders to click through outdated dashboards, Central’s software handles compliance tasks and uses human experts only when edge cases arise. The company makes money on a per‑employee SaaS subscription and takes a cut of processed payroll.

In late August, it raised an $8.6 M seed round led by First Round Capital with Y Combinator, Ritual Capital, Multimodal Ventures, Alumni Ventures, and SurgePoint Capital participating.

Central is already processing over $75 million in payroll for hundreds of customers, and a third have switched from legacy providers.

CEO Josh Wymer wants to free founders from bureaucracy so they can build products, not back‑office teams.
