Riverline AI – Empathy-driven debt collection in India

Debt collection in India is usually a nightmare.

Spam calls, threats, zero empathy.

Riverline AI is a Bengaluru-based startup building agentic AI debt counsellors so borrowers can renegotiate payment plans through patient conversations instead of harassment.

Founded in 2024 by Ankit Sanghvi, Jayanth Krishnaprakash, and Abhishek Gupta, the team is focused on AI-powered debt counselling for banks and digital lenders.

Riverline AI has raised an 825 thousand dollar pre-seed round led by South Park Commons, with participation from DeVC, gradCapital, and angels from companies like Google, Meta, Tesla, M2P, HyperVerge, and others.

Their AI agents already manage collections on more than $11M of non-performing loans every month, working with tech-first lenders including CRED, Freo, NIRA, and propelld.

They reverse the usual collection logic. The AI shows borrowers how to rebuild their credit scores and agree on realistic payment plans, while giving lenders real-time risk signals and better recovery rates.

As India's retail credit market booms, compassionate, AI native debt automation could become a real moat for modern lenders.
