Sencillo – Helping families plan education costs
School fees feel less like a line item, more like a second mortgage.
In the UK, the education journey quietly stretches over 20 plus years.
Early years childcare can run from a few thousand pounds a year to the mid-teens, independent schools reach £19k to £50k annually, and university can cost more than £22.7k per year once you include living expenses.
Most parents see those numbers in fragments: one bill at a time, never as a single, honest picture.
Sencillo is a London fintech built by parents for parents.
The platform helps families plan, fund, and manage the full cost of education: from nursery through to adulthood.
Here is how it works.
Step 1. You map your child's education path in the app. Sencillo estimates fees for each stage and shows the total pathway cost for each child.
Step 2. You plug in savings, family support, and gifts, then see how far they actually stretch.
Step 3. You access a marketplace of responsible finance products, so approved lenders can pay fees straight to nurseries, schools, and universities, and you can spread costs in a controlled way instead of reacting in a panic each term.
Founders Adam Amos and Matthew Powell bring both sides of the table.
Sencillo has raised a bit over £350k (about $460k) in pre-seed funding led by Fuel Ventures 🚀, with angel backing from senior executives at PensionBee, Premium Credit, and the London Stock Exchange.
Zoom out.
Education is one of the biggest investments a parent will ever make, and fees are rising faster than inflation. An end-to-end planning and finance layer for school and university costs feels overdue.
If Sencillo executes, it can easily become the Mint of education, a place where families see the whole journey, not just the next invoice.
Every day, we share one curated fintech on the FinBox Solutions page.
The project with the most votes becomes Fintech of the week and lands here on my profile.
If you had a clear dashboard for your child's entire education journey, would it change how you save, borrow, and say yes to that next school bill?
