Ume – Fast-track Pix integration

São Paulo‑based Ume helps merchants build instalment plans and revolving credit using Brazil’s Pix payment rails and AI underwriting. Products like Limite Ume, Pix Parcelado, and Empréstimo Pessoal serve both merchants and consumers, while an LLM‑powered assistant manages repayment and customer engagement.

Ume raised $21.8M in Series B funding led by Valor Capital Group and Bewater, with participation from PayPal Ventures, NFX, Globo Ventures, Canary, and BigBets.

The company reports 6,000 merchants and 220,000 consumers, with an 85% repeat purchase rate and over R$500M ($94.0M USD or €79.9M EUR) in total customer purchases. CEO Berthier Ribeiro and COO Theo R. plan to expand the payment network and strengthen AI infrastructure. Will Latin America’s Pix become the backbone of credit?
